Recently, we were fortunate to buy a few items from the estate of the late Penny Marshall (one of the most well-known actresses in Hollywood; she became famous for her role in Laverne & TV series back in 1970s. That series still could be seen on tv). She was a very down-to-earth person, the reason that I say that is because once I met her at the Lakers game in Los Angeles. This Serapi came from her estate; this is a very early Serapi from the late 1800s possibly 1880 and unlike most of the regular Serapis, this one has a very tight weave. If you refer to picture #11, you can see the backside of it which shows the tight weaves. As far as the color combination goes, it is absolutely phenomenal, awesome ivory background, which is a plus in Serapis because it does not come that easy like red. Plus other fabulous colors. Please refer to the close-ups, all show the true colors of the rug, also all dyes are organically made from vegetables. Now regarding the condition: for those who love the look of antique thin rugs with a "worn out" look, this would be ideal for them. There are many restorations in this rug, I believe she has spent a fortune to reweave some parts of the rug. The areas that show the lighter colors are the repaired areas. If you referred to all close-ups you could see the white repaired areas. Also, it has two tiny holes and I can fix those holes. I can also make those white repaired areas match the background color for an extra small fee. This is a gorgeous Serapi, which measures 12' x 14', which is almost an impossible size to find. If I said that a size like this one comes in every 10000 I am not exaggerating. Finally, for the price that I am offering no one could go wrong, this look of thin worn-out antique rugs is the trend in today's market, and when it comes to Serapi prices drastically will go up. If I said that it could be doubled in price, it is very much possible because of the size. If you wanted to buy this from any high-end retailers you had to pay at least $20k. If you have any questions, please, contact me prior to the purchase.
