A 19th Century Indian Agra Rug “Prison Weave”
during innovation of India by British there are incredible works of art were often the result of jail production and came from forced labor in India’s jail population. These Indian Jail rugs did not just offer Europeans a beautiful product, they also paved the way for British businessmen to exploit labor and profit substantially( You can learn more about prison made rugs online). The one that I am offering here, is one of those prison weave. All the rugs that were made during the innovation, ordered by British, and patterns came from the work shops of Donegal & William Morris. Usually when we cross the early Agra at this age. we must do some restoration to bring it in presentable condition but this rug besides having a low flat pile frpm top to bottom, could be used the way it is without spending a dime. It measures 4' x 6'-7". I am offering this rug way below the retail & even wholesale.
